No matter where one can travel in the world, small local venues can easily exceed large commercial venues in quality and surprise. This is whether we're talking about food, microbrews, wines, music, film, poetry, and visual arts.
Why should we ever assume that large commercial would be better? I understand that when I comes to tangibles, quality and cost can be related. But when it comes to experiential value, they may remain largely unrelated.
